With just a couple of days left until release (September 10th in Japan, September 11th in Europe and North America), Nintendo is still going with its Today’s Super Mario Maker series, launched earlier this month. Every day, the company is going to highlight a particular element from the game, via videos, screenshots, etc..
Today, Nintendo didn’t have one, but two Today’s Super Mario Maker for us. The first one was about the latest batch of TV Commercials for the game, that you will find in this post.
For the second Today’s Super Mario Maker, Nintendo uploaded several videos showcasing Costume Mario. This is a special feature of the game, available only in the Super Mario Bros. Game Style. In ? blocks, you can place special costumes inside: if the player takes them, they will transform. But there’s a catch: they can’t know in advance which one they will get!
The costumes are a bit special, as they not only come with special poses and sound effects, but also their own abilities. For example, Link can use the down thrust with its sword, while as an Inkling, you can transform into a squid. There’s over 90 costumes, which are unlocked in two ways:
- via the 100 Mario challenge
- using amiibo (however, not all costumes can be unlocked that way).

Head after the break for two video showcasing the Inkling and Isabelle costumes!
