Today’s Super Mario Maker #4: Auto Scroll; more videos

With less than month until release (September 10th in Japan, September 11th in Europe and North America), Nintendo launched Today’s Super Mario Maker on Monday: every day, the company is going to highlight a particular element from the game, via videos, screenshots, etc..

Today, Nintendo is showcasing one really neat features: Auto Scroll. Unless you’ve never played a platformer in your life, you know about it: the levels move automatically, and the player has to keep up or face certain death. Good news: you will be able to make levels with Auto Scroll in Super Mario Maker!

When making a level, touch the clock icon on the top right corner of the GamePad screen: there, you can not only set up the timer, but also the Auto Scroll. There’s four options:

  • No Auto Scroll
  • Turtle speed (slow)
  • Hare speed (medium)
  • Cheetah (fast)

The video below not only shows each speed level, but also compares them. Unsurprisingly, the Cheetah speed is… well… really fast, and there’s no doubt players will come up with devilish levels for it!
