Today’s Super Mario Maker #15: Fly Swatting mini-game

With less than a week left until release (September 10th in Japan, September 11th in Europe and North America), Nintendo is still going with its Today’s Super Mario Maker series, launched earlier this month. Every day, the company is going to highlight a particular element from the game, via videos, screenshots, etc..

For Today’s Super Mario Maker, Nintendo uploaded a new video, showcasing a rather neat easter-egg: the Fly Swatting mini-game. Just imagine: you’re creating your own level merrily, without a care in the world. Then suddenly, you move a block and three flies appear. Naturally, you can’t resist but try and swatting them. And then, suddenly, something incredible happens… or not.

Actually, this simply starts a Fly Swatting mini-game, pretty similar to the one found in Mario Paint on the SNES. The goal is pretty simple: swat as many flies as possible. It all starts pretty easily, with a couple of flies on the screen. Then things start getting more complex, with more and more type of flies to swat… including a giant one wearing armor! Unfortunately, it looks like this mini-game is only triggered on rare occasions…

Here’s the video for the Fly Swatting mini-game:
