Today’s Super Mario Maker #3: Sound Effects

With less than month until release (September 10th in Japan, September 11th in Europe and North America), Nintendo launched Today’s Super Mario Maker on Monday: every day, the company is going to highlight a particular element from the game, via videos, screenshots, etc..

Today, Nintendo is showcasing one of the most surprising features of the game (at least, for players discovering Super Mario Maker for the first time): the sound effects. As mentionned in the overview video, you can actually place various sound effects in the levels. Those are not visible to the players, and they are activated automatically via invisible triggers.

But some of those sound effects come with visual effects, such as fireworks for example. You can also add sound effects to various elements, such as blocks for example. From the looks of it, the sound effects can be heard from the speakers on the GamePad! Finally, the video reminds us that you can record sound clips using the mic: this way, you will be able to wish someone a Happy Birthday… or really spook them with a scary message!
