Pokémon GO: early details on Trainer Battles, more coming today
Later today, Niantic will share some more details about the long-awaited Trainer Battle feature. But last week, we already got a few tidbits via Twitter.
Alongside the Trainer Battles themselves, three Pokémon GO Trainer Battle Leagues will debut:
- Great
- Ultra
- Master
Each league has a different maximum Pokémon CP limit, that’s why you need to think carefully about which one to join (something you have to do before you can even take part in any Trainer Battle). After all, the league you choose will directly impact which Pokémon you can use in battle! For example, Pokémon with high CP is definitely a big advantage in Master League, but the Great and Ultra League require more strategic thinking when building your team.
Here’s the maximum CP limit for each league:
- Great League: 1,500 CP limit
- Ultra League: 2,500 CP limit
- Master League: No CP limit
The developers went with that system in order to create an experience that’s accessible to as many players as possible, where everyone can enjoy Trainer Battles, and make sure different kinds of Pokémon can be used in them (instead of just the most powerful ones).
Finally, the following are now available in the game:
- Spin Form #6 (you need to complete the “Make A Great Curveball Throw” research task
- Shiny Misdreavus
