Splatoon: new weapons and maps found via datamining

Splatoon 1

It’s thanks to datamining that we found out about Ryu and Roy coming to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS months before they were revealed. It’s also thanks to datamining that part of the second DLC pack for Mario Kart 8 was revealed before any official announcement. And once again, it’s thanks to datamining that we found out about upcoming maps, weapons and modes for Splatoon.

We put all the info and pics after the break: if you wish to keep the surprise intact and wait for Nintendo to reveal all this, stop reading right away!

As mentionned before, most of the content added regularly by Nintendo is already present on the Splatoon disc. And apparently, Nintendo is about to run out of maps, as there’s only 2 left to be added:

– Camp
– Skyscraper

Next, there’s a list of weapons that have yet to be released. For some of them, there’s even the name of the sub and special weapons that comes with them: those are most likely complete and should be released soon. The rest will most likely be added via an upcoming Software update (there’s a big one slated for August).

Here’s some pictures for those weapons:

Finally, we have two upcoming modes:

– Tower Control (coming with the August update);
– Rainmaker:

In Rainmaker, both teams compete to snag the Rainmaker. Once you’ve got it, the goal is to carry it into the other team’s base! So as soon as the battle begins, grab that Rainmaker! It’s guarded by a shield, though, so you’ll need to bust it out first. Once you snag it, head for the other team’s base. And be quick about it!

If you run out of time or get splatted, the Rainmaker will be dropped. Its shield will also reactivate. The Rainmaker is crazy heavy, so you can’t Super Jump while carrying it. Your teammates will have to watch your back! The Rainmaker can also shoot ink like an Inkzooka, so you can clear a path!

The closer you get to the enemy base while holding the Rainmaker, the lower your goal distance will drop. If the battle ends without anyone carrying the Rainmaker to the goal, the team with the lowest goal distance will win!
