Nintendo: the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024 to take place in April in Japan

The latest Nintendo Live event was meant to take place in January in Tokyo, but it was ultimately cancelled for security reasons. The good news is that not all events and activities initially planned for that event were cancelled, but merely delayed. That’s the case of the two music concerts (which are taking place this week!), but also the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024.

Nintendo has announced that the two tournaments will take place this April in Japan (on April 13th and April 14th to be precise). More details will be shared in the future, but the official website for the event has been updated in Europe and Japan. It features the rulesets for the various tournaments!

Also, we already know that the full event will be livestreamed on YouTube and NicoNico. Nintendo Account holders will be able to check out a special “viewpoint-based stream” of the tournaments with footage from the point of view of each participant.

As for the finale of the Splatoon Koshien 2023 (which will determine the team that will represent Japan at the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024), it will take place on March 30th and March 31st. That event will also be livestreamed (like the rest of the Splatoon Koshien 2023 competition). More details can be found (in Japanese) on this website!

Finally, Japanese players will be able to take part in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Online Challenge Final Stage on April 13th and April 14th: the winners will get to compete in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024.
