Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo announced for January 20th/21st [Update: cancelled]

This week-end, the very first Nintendo Live event in North America (Nintendo Live 2023 Seattle) will take place in Seattle, United States (alongside PAX West). And that’s not the only Nintendo Live event on the horizon: Nintendo has just announced that the next event in Japan, Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo, will take place in January!

Unlike the previous Japanese events (which were all held in Kyoto), Nintendo Live 2024 will take place in Tokyo at Tokyo Big Sight, on January 20th and January 21st. It will feature the following events and activities:

  • World tournaments with the Splatoon 3 World Championship 2024 and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship 2024, featuring the winning teams from the various tournaments held in Europe, North America, Japan, and other parts of the world
  • Live music performances with The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon 3 music
    • The Legend of Zelda: orchestral performance of music from the series
    • Splatoon 3: new live performance from Deep Cut
  • Game tournaments: Splatoon 3 (Salmon Run), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Stage events
  • Game demos
  • Photo Spots
  • Goodies

As with previous Nintendo Live events, Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo will be livestreamed on YouTube, so even if you cannot attend personally, you will be able to enjoy the festivities from the comfort of your home!

Important note: players interested in attending Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo and/or take part in the game tournaments will need to register beforehand, and only those selected (via lottery) will be able to participate:

  • October: registration for the tournaments
  • November: registration for admission
