Megaton Musashi: A. Hino gives some details, wants it on “as large a screen as possible”

In the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, there’s an interview of Akihiro Hino (CEO of Level-5) about the Level-5 Vision 2016 conference. In that interview, he talks about the various games/projects showcased/revealed during the conference, including Megaton Musashi.

He explains that Megaton Musashi is all about robots (something that was pretty obvious in the Pilot Anime). The protagonist is called Yamato Ichidaiji, but the story will not be told only from his perspective. We can imagine that Yuugo Hijikata and Teru Asami (who both pilot a Musashi-class mech) will also play a prominent role in the story, which will also be told from their perspective.

Megaton Musashi is entirely focused on robots, and the game will show just how cool they are. It will also allow players to experience the awesome action that takes place inside the cockpit, such as the characters shouting attack names, pulling all kinds of levers, etc. (something that’s definitely going to please fans of mecha animes such as Gundamn, for example).

As for which platform Megaton Musashi will be released on, nothing has been announced, but the company only has the Nintendo 3DS in mind for now. That being said, Akihiro Hino explained that since the game is all about mechas and anime, they’re also considering “high-spec consoles”, to allow players to fully enjoy the experience.

He futher explained that he wanted, if possible, to have players play Megaton Musashi on “as large a screen as possible”. Does that mean a console release is in the works? If yes, which one? It’s possible they’re planning to release Megaton Musashi on the mysterious NX platform (that would explain why no platform was mentioned, since Level-5 cannot say anything about the NX just yet). Naturally, this is nothing but speculation on our part!

Megaton Musashi should be released in Summer 2017 in Japan.
