Europe: video games sales for Week 33 (UK) / Week 32 (France), more

United Kingdom (Week 33)

In the United Kingdom, Week 33 was a pretty good week for Nintendo. The Pokémon GO effect is waning a bit, but it can still be felt:

  • Pokémon Omega Ruby: from #13 to #18
  • Pokémon Alpha Sapphire: from #21 to #27

And thanks to the Summer holidays, some games on Nintendo platforms are performing pretty well. That’s the case of New Super Mario Bros. 2, which gained 9 places at once: it went straight from #23 to #14. This is most likely due to the good sales of the Nintendo 2DS bundle, which has been pretty popular over the past couple of weeks.

Tomodachi Life is not far behind: it’s #17 this week, up 1 place from #18 last week. As for Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics on Wii U, it’s still ranked #20, but now that the actual olympics are over, the game is bound to drop starting next week. On the other hand, Minecraft: Wii U Edition should remain in the Top 40 for a little bit longer, as it actually went up during Week 33 (from #30 to #24).

As for Monster Hunter Generations, it’s on its way out, and will most likely be gone from the Top 40 by next week. It’s #34 this week, down 12 places from #12. On the other hand, both Mario Kart 7 and Yo-kai Watch makes their comeback in the Top 40: they’re ranked #35 and #40 respectively.

On Nintendo 3DS, New Super Mario Bros. 2 is the new best-seller, while on Wii U, it’s still Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics that you will find at the top!

France (Week 32)

In France, Monster Hunter Generations left the Top 5… in fact, it’s not even in the Top 3 for the Nintendo 3DS (because of Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire). Yo-kai Watch, on the other hand, is still holding: it lost 1 place, and is now ranked #5. Since the Summer holidays are not quite over yet, it should manage to stay in the Top 5 one more week.

Naturally, it’s the best-seller on Nintendo 3DS, while on Wii U, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics is once again dominating sales.
