The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Latest official blog post (Tingle’s Outfit)

Today, Nintendo published a blog post about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the official blog of the Legend of Zelda portal in Japan. This time, the post is from Mari Shirakawa, Game Designer (who worked mainly on NPC and field-event designs). She’s here to talk about the first DLC pack (the Master Trials, releasing on June 30th), and more precisely Tingle’s Outfit.

Tingle’s Outfit is one of the elements you can get from the 1st DLC Pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Tingle is a really unique character that first appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (on the Nintendo 64), and then went on to appear in various other games (not all of them from the Legend of Zelda series). In fact, he even got his own games (on the Nintendo DS), and an entire website dedicated to him (in Japan).

Mari Shirakawa explains that she was pretty shocked (“righ down to my bones!”) when she first saw Tingle. She finds him extremely unsettling… but also quite adorable. For her, it’s pretty clear that if you “hate” Tingle, that means you do about him… at least a little. After all, love and hate are not feelings you usually have for people you don’t care about.

And who knows, your feelings towards him might change, one day! It’s for this very reason that they created games featuring him as the main character.

She then goes on to explain that Tingle is (really) not your typical Nintendo character, which is why they went and had him do and say things that typical Nintendo characters would never say or do. As you can imagine, it was a pretty challenging process, but it’s pretty clear that Tingle has made his mark on Hyrule now, and Link is even dressing up as him… so she’s pretty proud of it all!

You’re probably wondering what Tingle’s Outfit do in the game. If you wear all 3 pieces, you get the “Night Speed-Up” effect.

Finally, the next blog post will be from Eiji Aonuma, who will talk about The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
