Japan: more sales data for Week 5, 2017 (Media Create, Dengeki)

Media Create (Week 5, 2017)

Today, Media Create published its weekly report on video game sales in Japan during Week 5, 2017. It reveals that total Software sales topped 349 000 units, which is 64.46% of Week 4 sales. Sales dropped below the 350 000 units threshold for the very first time since September.

None of this week’s entries managed to sell at least 10 000 units, which is why the ratio of new games in total sales dropped to 7.59% of Week 4 sales. But on the other hands, sales of previously-released games (naturally) increased, to 109.4% of Week 5 sales. Media Create notes that Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS and Pokémon Sun and Moon had pretty stable sales.

• Software: 322 000 units sold (-41.9%), due to only 3 new titles released during Week 5 (and those didn’t have stellar sales at all);
• Hardware: 74 000 units sold (-7.22%).
