With the Nintendo Switch, developers/publishers who had never gone anyway near Nintendo platforms are now suddenly announcing games for one. What’s more, genres that have usually avoided those platforms (quite simply because they’re too niche) are getting various announcements, too. That’s the case of Visual Novels, with two announced in the past few weeks: Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm and Song of Memories!

Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm

Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm is a Visual Novel already available on PC and PlayStation platforms (including in an adult-only version, on PC), which received an anime adaptation in 2016. Last week, Fairys announced that a Nintendo Switch version would be released this Fall in Japan, at retail and on the Nintendo eShop.

This version will offer full HD (1080p) when docked, and presumably 720p when in handheld mode. Players who buy the game will receive an exclusive jackets.

Here’s the main characters and their voice actresses:

  • Asuka Kurashina (voiced by Misato Fukuen
  • Misaki Tobisawa (voiced by Azumi Asakura)
  • Mashiro Arisaka (voiced by Nozomi Yamamoto)
  • Rika Ichinose (voiced by Madoka Yonezawa)

Here’s some gameplay footage from the trial version (PC):

Song of Memories

Last month, Pure Wish announced they were porting Song of Memories to the Nintendo Switch this year. The game is only announced for Japan, but it will feature English and French language options. The PlayStation 4 version will be released in Europe and North America, so it’s possible the Nintendo Switch will also get such a treatment… if not, there will always be importing (or downloading the digital version)!
