Japan – Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition Nintendo eShop pre-paid card releasing next week

Minecraft is an extremely popular game worldwide, and Japan is no exception. Minecraft: Wii U Edition sold pretty well (well over 500 000 units), though it’s truly the fact that the game sold over 1.3 million units on the PlayStation Vita (of all platforms!) that shows just how strong a franchise Minecraft is in the country.

As you can imagine, Nintendo is most likely dying to have Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition out at retail asap. Not only would it be pretty successful, but it would also help them sell the Nintendo Switch to a younger audience (kids). Unfortunately, there will be no such version this year anywhere in the world, and there most likely will not be any until the Better Together update is ready (and it’s been delayed to next year).

That being said, Nintendo will have some Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition-related at retail next week (on December 4th): a Nintendo eShop pre-paid card. It’s not a Download Card, which means that the 4 000 Yen this card is worth can be used to buy pretty much anything on the Nintendo eShop (and not even necessarily on Nintendo Switch).

Fun fact: the game costs 3 888 Yen, so if you were to use that Nintendo eShop pre-paid card, you would be left with only 112 Yen… or rather odd amount!

Here’s what this Nintendo eShop pre-paid card looks like:

Also, the 8th episode of Nintendo’s Yoiko x Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition webshow is now available:
