Today’s Super Mario Maker #22: videos, event courses planning, more

Super Mario Maker came out almost two months ago in Japan, Europe and North America, but Nintendo is still going with its Today’s Super Mario Maker series.

The latest update for Super Mario Maker (Ver. 1.2.0) went live today, bringing mid-level checkpoints, power-ups that now depends on Mario’s status, and more. Nintendo also launched the Event courses: special courses available to players all around the world. Some of them even come with an extra transformation for Mario!

Here’s the two Event courses released today:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes stage, made by the developers of that game. Beating it unlocks a special Totem Links costume;
  • Game Center CX: a special stage by Shinya Arino himself. Beating it unlock Shinya Arino as a costume.

But there’s even more Event courses to come:

  • Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary course: a course made by Yukio Sawada (author of the Mario-kun manga) for the World Hobby Fair ’15 Summer. Beating it unlocks a special Mario-kun costume.
  • Warera ga Yoshi: a special level made by the Famitsu magazine staff. Beating it unlocks Nekki, Famitsu’s mascot.
