Super Smash Bros. for Wii U / 3DS: new update available (Ver. 1.0.7), fixes Mewtwo glitch

Last week, Nintendo released a new Software update for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It came with Mewtwo, but also a rather annoying glitch related to that character. Using it in certain Single Player modes would cause some data corruption, which would then prevent impacted players from playing online.

Nintendo was quick to send a notice regarding this glitch, and they were also quick to patch it, it seems! A brand new Software update for both Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS was released today, and it brings them to Ver. 1.0.7. The only fix/change mentionned in the official changelog is the one for the Mewtwo glitch, though it seems they also fixed the glitch involving Mewtwo’s unofficial custom moves.

– Nintendo 3DS: the patch requires 1715 blocks of free space on your SD Card.
– Wii U: the patch requires only 21MB of free space on your Wii U / external HDD.

To download those two patches, you have several options:

– Wii U: you can let the console download it automatically, or force the download by selecting the game from the Home menu (it won’t work from the Quick Start menu);
– Nintendo 3DS: you can download the update from the Home menu, by selecting Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (you should get a notification if you’re connected to the internet). Alternatively, you can download from the Nintendo eShop, by going to the Settings page.
