Super Mario Maker: new update available (Ver. 1.31), costume videos
Super Mario Maker – Ver. 1.31
Today, Nintendo released another update for Super Mario Maker. Unlike the previous one, it doesn’t add any new features or course elements, it just fixes some (minor) issues (but as usual, Nintendo doesn’t give any details). To download it, you need at least 298MB of free space on your Wii U or external HDD.
Here’s the official patchnotes:
- Introduces additional enhancements to improve the user’s experience and enjoyment
To download it, you will have two options:
- let the console do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated. You should have the latest version the next time you lanch the game;
- if not, you can launch Super Mario Maker from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start Menu) in order to trigger the download and installation of the update.
To check that you have the latest version of the game, simply launch it. You should see this at the bottom right corner of the screen:

Today’s Super Mario Maker #32: Excitebike and Birdo Event Courses + Costumes
On December 31st, two new Event Courses will go live in Super Mario Maker. Beating them will allow you to get two special costumes:
- beating the Event Course based on Exciteike will allow you to unlock the Excitebike costume
- beating the Event Course based on Super Mario Bros. 2 will allow you to unlock the Birdo costume (known as Catherine in Japan)
