Fire Emblem if: capturing feature is back, new characters revealed via Famitsu leaks

Earlier today, Famitsu revealed its usual weekly preview, and confirmed that Fire Emblem if would once again be featured in the latest issue. And as usual, we won’t have to wait until the game’s official out before getting some details from the article, thanks to online leaks!

First, we have some details about 3 of the 7 characters revealed in this issue (who are all from Nohr):

Pieri (a Cavalier): she’s one of Prince Marx’s subordinates, and her personality is a bit… strange. Every time she senses danger on the battlefield, she “transforms” into a violent alter-ego. Her personal skill is called “Killer Instinct“, which allows her to get +4 in Strength, Magic, Skill and Speed (for one turn) if she KOs an enemy.

Lazward (a Mercenary): a womaniser who really likes girls and spends his free time picking up women. He’s actually quite good at dancing, which he can uses as a special command. When his personal skill is used as a command, all allies within a 2-tiles radius get +1 in Strength and Speed for one turn.

Odin (a Dark Mage): a sorcerer who spends his day researching “amazing special moves”. However, he can get fired up easily, which makes him lose control of his power. His personal skill is called “Blood Boil“, which gives him +10 in Critical Rate when a forged weapon with a special name is equipped.

Apparently, Lazward and Odin are “homages” to Inigo and Owain, which were among the most popular children in Fire Emblem: Awakening (along with Lucina and Severa). Also, the magazine has profiles for Zero, Charlotte, Benoit and Orochi, but with the exception of Zero, they all had their profile posted on the official website (which was translated by a fan).

Here’s an artwork for Zero:

Next, we get some details about the personal skill of Benoit and Charlotte:

– Benoit: his personal skill is “Intimidate“, which allows him to lower the Avoid rate (-10) of enemies within a 2-tile radius.
– Charlotte: her personal skill is “Woman’s True Nature“, which allows her to get +4 in Damage and +20 in Critical Hit whenever she’s facing a female enemy.

Finally, the leaks allow us to learn more about the Prison feature. Capturing is a feature that was present in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776, and it was brought back in Fire Emblem if. To capture an enemy, you need to use Orochi or Zero’s “capture” command in order to defeat an enemy: they will then be sent to your Prison (from the My Castle feature).

Of course, you don’t let the enemies rot in their cell: you can try to recruit them by offering them ressources or persuading them. Unsurprisingly, some of the enemies cannot be captured, such as bosses.

If all those details weren’t enough for you, don’t worry: Famitsu magazine still has more info (such as the Arena, the Forge, Lilith’s Shrine, My Room and the Accessory Shop), but we’re going to have wait for more leaks/the full magazine before we get them!
