Bloodstained: final stretch goal met, $5,545,991 pledged in total

Update 2

That’s it: the Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has ended. A total of $5,545,991 was pledged by fans, which means that the very last stretch goal, for the Boss Revenge Mode, was reached!

Update

Earlier today, the last stretch goal for the Kickstarter campaign was reached, which means that the game is going to get a Roguelike Dungeon Mode. And as announced previously, the prequel mini-game is also coming to Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita.

But that’s not all, one last stretch goal was revealed…

1

Here’s what this Boss Revenge Mode includes:

  • Control several different bosses
  • Utilize their special attacks to wreak havok
  • Explore a new BOSS REVENGE area
  • Turn the tables and defeat “Hero” Bosses in your pursuit of humanity’s destruction

But that’s not all: backers also unlocked the Pure costume for Miriam:

As for the livestream, it will start at 4PM Pacific (1AM CET / 12PM BST / 7PM EDT), on Twitch.

Finally, one last word from Armature, about Unreal Engine 4…

We announced that we would be releasing the code for our UE4 WiiU/Vita modifications. We didn’t provide very many details, and there’s been some confusion, so we just wanted to clear a few things up.

What we are planning to do is share the WiiU and Vita modifications to UE4 for Bloodstained after the game ships with authorized developers for the respective platforms (and we’re not sure how we’ll deliver the code, it’s a bit complicated because of all the parties involved).

Neither us nor Epic will be providing any support for this code. What developers will get will be a snapshot of the platform-specific code that ships with Bloodstained on the version of UE4 that Bloodstained ships with. Nobody will be keeping the code up-to-date with newer versions of UE4.

We are not planning to take external contributions from individuals, do any co-development, or release the code prior to Bloodstained’s release. Our intent is to give people a great jumping-off point on those platforms.

We hope this clears things up, and we’re excited to provide more specifics as we have them!

… and from Takuya Aizu (Inti Creates):

“I just wanted to thank everyone here for all of their amazing support. We are focused on not only making this the best game we can, but also on making this a game with true ‘soul’ in it. Please look forward to the day when we can get a playable out there and show you how great the game will be.

“And one more thing…

“WOO-HOO!!!!! WE ARE THE NUMBER ONE KICKSTARTED VIDEO GAME! (Sorry, that just makes me really, really happy!)”

Shovel Knight

At the start of the Kickstarter campaign, Yuji Natsume made a fan-art of Shovel Knight (that you can find below). Yesterday, it was announced that he would make an appearance in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night! Unfortunately, we don’t know anymore about that for now…

Stretch goals

Since yesterday’s post, not one, but three stretch goals were reached:

– third playable characters: no info for now, as development has just started. Apparently, it will require some creative story telling;
– prequel mini-game for consoles: a mini-game similar to Mighty Gunvolt for Azure Strike Gunvolt. It will be set entirely in the Bloodstained universe, and will cast some light on the events that transpired prior to Miriam’s awakening [Free for backers who pledged +28$, sold separately later];
– prequel mini-game for handhelds (Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita).

Message for Koji Igarashi

Here’s a final message from Koji Igarashi:

‘They have faith in our ability, but they need to see the support of the community before their funding’… It was a theme so vital to any future chance I had at doing another Igavania-type game, that I actually said it twice in Japanese in the announcement video… And that’s how this Kickstarter journey began.

When we launched the Kickstarter not only did we prove the market for a game like this, we became the Number 1 video game Kickstarter of all time. I wish I could rewind the clock to the beginning of the campaign and kick myself for thinking we would probably only raise 800,000 if we got lucky.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible support from an incredible community. So with that, Army of the Night, I will turn myself to the task of making a game truly worthy of all your kindness. I will not let you down.
