Etrian Odyssey V: some additional details and plenty of screens/artworks

Following the opening of the official website, last week, Atlus shared plenty of screenshots/artworks and some additional details for Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth (Sekaiju no Meikyuu V: Nagaki Shinwa no Hate in Japanese) today. There isn’t many new things to discover (as most of the details/screens cover what was featured in Famitsu magazine last month), but there is some additional tidbits in there.

Etrian Odyssey VFirst, we have the lsit of elements you can modify when customising your characters:

  • Hair (12 colours, and full RGB range)
  • Skin (12 colours)
  • Eye colour (12 colours, you can change the colour of each eye separately)
  • Voice (40 types, possible to switch off completely). You can find the list of voice actors in this post!

Just like in previous entries, you will be able to create your own maps of the areas you explore. Etrian Odyssey V will even let you customise the palette of icons you can use to draw the maps, so that you can have a quick access to the icons you use the most. Of course, there will be an option to auto-fill the map for players who don’t feel confident enough to draw their own maps.

Finally, we have three new/expanded elements:

  • fishing spots: in Etrian Odyssey V, you will be able to fish at specific spots within the labyrinth;
  • Mini events: in Famitsu magazine, earlier this month, Shigero Komori (Director) explained that he wanted to include (and emphasise) more tabletop RPG-like elements in the game. That’s exactly what those Mini events are: special events that occur when exploring the labyrinth, similar to those the Dungeon Master gives to players during a tabletop RPG session. When one is triggered, you can see its title and a description of the events, giving you a real sense of adventure;
  • fire spots, where you can cook food within the labyrinth.

Finally, here’s the screenshots and artworks for the game:

Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth (Sekaiju no Meikyuu V: Nagaki Shinwa no Hate) (3DS) comes out on August 4th in Japan.
