During the Nintendo Digital Event, Nintendo revealed a brand new Zelda game, called The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. This time around, the focus in this new title is on co-op (and not competitive co-op, like Zelda: Four Swords). In this game, you can team up with two others players in order to tackle dungeons, filled with puzzles, enemies and the usual bosses.

The good news: the game is indeed playable online, but also in Single Player (where you get some Link “dolls” to control, and you can switch from one to the other at any time).

Here’s the main features of the game:

  • Similar visual style and top-down view of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
  • As Link, buddy up with two other Link characters and cooperatively solve inventive puzzles to progress through the game.
  • All three players share hearts, so they must work together to defeat enemies and solve puzzles.
  • Stack three Links on top of each other with the new “Totem” mechanic, which makes it possible to reach new locations to solve puzzles.
  • Collect loot to create wearable outfits, each with a different boost or ability. Each dungeon is structured with four main areas.
  • Single-player mode allows the player to rent two paper dolls to take along to complete the team of three and face challenges in dungeons.
  • Choose from a set of emoticons to communicate with each other while playing in multiplayer mode.
  • Team up with two other players in multiplayer mode via local wireless connection, online and with download play.

Here’s the trailer for the game, as well as some artworks:

Finally, here’s the Nintendo Treehouse Live segment (Day 1, 2 and 3) dedicated to the game:

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS) comes out in Q4 2015 worldwide.
