Today, Koei-Tecmo detailed some of the new features which were added in Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2 for the Nintendo 3DS:

– Edit Mode: allows use to create your own warlord with over 2000 customisation options (such as the face). You can also edit their personality and abilities.

– Classics Portraits: by progressing through the adventure, you can unlock “classic” portraits for the warlords in Edit mode.

– New difficulty option: a brand new difficulty option was added, called “Super Class”. If you select this mode, enemy warlords will have even more troops than usual, and battle will become even fiercer.

– Challenge scenarios: on top of the new difficulty options, this version of the game will have Challenge scenarios for players looking for, well… a challenge. During those, you have to clear a set of (varied) objectives in a limited amount of time. The developers recommend you check out the objectives often, in order not to forget any.

At the end of each challenge, you will receive a rank based on your performance. You will also get various rewards, such as rare items or Special Warlords.

– Beginners: the game also features quite a lot of background information on historical events, so that even beginners who are not familiar with Romance of the Three Kingdoms can enjoy the game.
