PokéNews (Nov. 22, Round 2) – Pokémon GO event / Pokémon Sun and Moon

Today’s Pokémo news… Round 2, with some Pokémon GO news, but also…

  • Pokémon Sun and Moon

Pokémon GO

Yesterday, Niantic announced a special event for Thanksgiving in Pokémon GO. For a few days, players will get able to get double the amount of XP and Stardust they get when completing in-game actions. This is on top of other bonuses, so if you’re using a Lucky Egg (for example), then you will get 4 times the regular amount of XP!

Here’s the message that was posted on the official blog:

It has been an incredible experience since we launched Pokémon GO a few short months ago in July. We are passionate about creating experiences that encourage exploration and promote exercise. We are humbled that hundreds of millions of you around the world have joined us on this journey. So we would like to say thank you – and what better way to say thank you than to celebrate our community.

This event will be live from:

  • Europe: November 23rd (1AM) to November 30th (1AM)
  • UK: November 23rd (12AM) to November 30th (12AM)
  • North America (ET): November 22nd (7PM) to November 29th (7PM)
  • North America (PT): November 22nd (4PM) to November 29th (4PM)
  • Japan: November 23rd (9AM) to November 23rd (9AM)

But that’s not all: Niantic also adjusted the Combat Power of some Pokémon:

  • it has been increased for some Pokémon (such as Alakazam, Rhydon, and Gengar)
  • it has been lowered for some other Pokémon (we don’t get any example)

According to Niantic, those adjustments are there to “allow a more balanced and competitive battling and training experience in Gyms”. Naturally, the developers are planning to keep making adjustments in the future, when necessary.

Finally, some bad news: the Laplas event going on in some regions in Japan has ended prematurely, due to the eartquake. It was supposed to end tomorrow (November 23rd).

Pokémon Sun and Moon

Here’s a commercial for Pokémon Sun and Moon, straight for Sweden. Why are we posting this? It’s because Julius Guldbog, from Image & Form, is actually the one doing the voice over!

Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS) comes out tomorrow in Europe.
