Nintendo news (Nov. 7): Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC / Nintendo Switch Online: NES

Today’s Nintendo news: Masahiro Sakurai’s message about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC, but also…

  • Nintendo Switch Online: Nintendo Entertain System
  • Arcade Archives Urban Champion

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Earlier today, Masahiro Sakurai did something rather unusual (but not unprecedented): he posted a few tweets in English. He did so in order to discuss the DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, announced during the Nintendo Direct presentation last week.

Basically, he explained that, even though development hasn’t begun yet, the fighters to be added as DLC have all been selected already. Quite interestingly, it’s Nintendo that chose which characters would be included, though it’s ultimately Sakurai himself who decided whether it was possible to create a fighter based on the characters selected. Once the line-up has been set in stone, planning begins.

Masahiro Sakurai also asked fans to avoid spamming requests at official Nintendo accounts and various people when they’re not specifically asking foir feedback. Interesting note: the info above was also posted in Japanese, but this particular tidbit about fan requests was only posted in English…

Here’s the two tweets from Masahiro Sakurai:

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s DLC line-up is now complete. This time the selection was made entirely by Nintendo. I decide if we can create a fighter based on their selection, then come up with the plan.

It’s great to dream about your favorite character joining the battle and I appreciate your passion, but please try to stay on topic when replying to tweets and refrain from flooding us, and other users, with requests when we’re not specifically asking for feedback. Thank you!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Switch) comes out on December 7th worldwide.

Nintendo Switch Online: Nintendo Entertain System

Today, Nintendo announced that the November set of games for the Nintendo Switch Online: Nintendo Entertain System service will go live on November 14th worldwide. As announced previously, it features the following games:

  • Metroid (Nintendo, available in Famicom Disk System version in Japan)
  • Mighty Bomb Jack (Koei-Tecmo)
  • Twinbee (Konami)

If the October line-up is anything to go by, there will also be a 4th game, and more precisely a modified (or SP) version of a title already available. Unfortunately, we don’t know which one it will be just yet…

Here’s a trailer and some screenshots for the November line-up:

As usual, you can find the complete list of games available in the Nintendo Switch Online: Nintendo Entertain System service on this page!
