Etrian Odyssey V – Website update (April 22): System, Dragoon trailer, Race/Skills video

Today, Atlus once again updated the official website for Etrian Odyssey V, and this time around, there’s quite a lot of content. There’s some details about monsters and F.O.E., a trailer for the Dragoon Class, a video for the racial skills, and some more retailer bonuses.

Etrian Odyssey VMonsters and F.O.E.

When exploring the labyrinth, you will encounter two types of monsters:

  • regular monsters, via random encounters. All the monster designs in the game are brand new, and were made by Shin Nagasawa;
  • F.O.E. are special monsters, much stronger than the regular ones. You can clearly see them roaming around in the labyrinth. It’s generally recommended to avoid them altogether, as only the most experienced of adventurers can deal with them. Players have to carefully observe them, and take note of their behaviour. That’s why it’s highly recommended to take the time to draw a quality map, as having a good knowledge of the labyrinth layout is crucial to avoid overpowered F.O.Es. Even if you feel condident enough to take one on, make sure you’re prepared beforehand!

Dragoon

Atlus also updated the page for the Dragoon, with artworks for the other character models, but also a trailer. Here’s what we wrote about that class yesterday:

They fight in the front row, and boast impressive defense thanks to their thick armour. But they’re not all about defense: their attack power is also something to be reckoned with.

  • Line Guard: lowers damage of physical attacks on one row, during one turn;
  • Gun Mount: launches a ranged strike attack while maintaining the guard skill used during the previous turn;
  • Barrage Wall: fires a barrage of bullets, and lowers the physical attack power of the target. Hit all enemies.

Head after the break for the rest of this post!

Races / Skills

Atlus updated the Character page, with details about the 4 four races and their skills. Here’s what we wrote about it yesterday:

  • Taijutsu: increases your resistance to sealing.

Lunaria

Atlus also mentions the Union Skills: really powerful skills that can be activated by several party members at once. In order to trigger one, you first need to fill up the Union Gauge.

Here’s a video showcasing the various racial skills, and Union Skills:
