Dragon Quest XI: latest scans from V-Jump shows village, battle screen, more

Last week, Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete was showcased during a presentation at the Jump Festa 2017. There, Square-Enix showcased both the Nintendo 3DS and the PlayStation 4 versions of the game, and revealed the opening movie (which will most likely be used for both versions): click here to check that out for yourself (if you haven’t already)!

And today, some scans from V-Jump magazine have surfaced, and allow us to see more of the game. We can see several screenshots of Ishi, the calm and peaceful village the protagonist is from.

As mentioned previously, during this part (at the beginning), the top screen displays the world in 3D, while the bottom screen displays it in 2D (after a certain point you have to chose between the two, but you can switch at any time). The scans also show several scenes, comparing the two versions (Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4).

We also get to see the protagonist (who has a strange mark on his hand, which glows), a girl named Ema (a friend of the protagonist, who decides to undergo a ritual with him), and Kamyu.

The map shows where both Ishi Village and the Great Tree of Life are located. For some reason, the protagonist is able to commune with the spirit of the tree.

Finally, the scans allow us to get another glimpse at the battle screen, which is different between the two versions, but also in 3D and 2D mode on Nintendo 3DS. In 2D mode, only the monsters are displayed on the screen, while 3D mode has both the monsters and your party.

Here’s the scans for Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete from V-Jump (warning: big file size):
