The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes – Details on Download Play, video

Yesterday, Nintendo revealed some additional details about The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, along with a brand new trailer.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force HeroesBut the company also explained how Download Play works in the game. For those who (still) don’t know, Download Play is a feature which first appeared on Nintendo DS (though some game on GameBoy Advance already had similar features), which allows a player to “share” the game with friends who don’t have their own copy.

Generally, there’s some restrictions (limited selection of levels, characters, etc.), but in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes, the developers were pretty generous. Indeed: even though you cannot try out the Coliseum (the VS mode), the full campaign mode is available in Download Play. Indeed, you can get access to pretty much all the worlds and levels the host players has unlocked.

In other words: you can technically play the whole game in co-op without even buying the game (as long as you don’t turn off your 3DS). But if you ever decide to buy it, you will be able to transfer your save data (how neat is that?). However, there’s another restriction: you can only craft two costumes (chosen at random among those created by the host player) when using Download Play.

Finally, here’s another video/commercial for the game, along with some screenshots:

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes (3DS) comes out on October 22nd in Japan, and October 23rd in Europe and North America.
