Dragon Quest VIII: boxart, first-print bonus

Last week, a leaked scan from Jump magazine allowed us to get a preview of the artwork used for the boxart of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on Nintendo 3DS. Of course, it was drawn by Akira Toriyama, who has been involved with the Dragon Quest series ever since the first game, on the NES.

And this morning, Square-Enix revealed the boxart for the game:

But that’s not all: they also revealed the first-print bonus for the game, which is a serial code for Erdrick’s Sword (the deadline is September 30th for fans buying the download version of the game). Players will be able to get it at one point during the adventure, but thanks to that code, they can get it early. For those unfamiliar with the Dragon Quest series, Erdrick is a legendary hero mentionned in several games.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (3DS) comes out on August 27th in Japan.
