Puzzle & Dragons X: details, screens, and gameplay footage

Puzzle & Dragons XPuzzle & Dragons X was revealed last year, in CoroCoro magazine. One of the new features of this “sequel” to Puzzle & Dragons Z is that your character can now fight beside your monsters. They can do that thanks to the Soul Armors, which give them special powers. The question is: how do you get your hands on such handy armour?

During battle, you can now switch to Capture Mode. If you manage to defeat the enemy monsters while in this mode, you can get materials. Then, if you bring them to the Soul Armor shop, you can create Soul Armours. Depending on the monsters you defeat, you will different sets of armour. Obviously, each one has its own powers, so you will have to experiment a bit and find the right armour that suits your needs and playstyle.

Next, we have Tamazo: your partner in the game, who supports you in battle. For some reason, it can also transform: GungHo shows him wearing the armour of Kakusei Odin. Unfortunately, that’s all we know for now!

Here’s a gameplay video for Puzzle & Dragons X, with the producer (Mr. Yamamoto) exploring a dungeon and fighting some battles:

Finally, GungHo announced that Puzzle & Dragons X would be playable at the World Hobby Fair ’16 Winter (which starts this week-end). Visitors who go try out the game will receive a special Yoyo: scanning the QR Code on it will allow you to befriend a monster in the game!

As a bonus, here’s some screencaps from the official website:

Puzzle & Dragons X (3DS) will be released this year in Japan.
