Minecraft: new update available

Minecraft Wii U EditionA few days ago, Minecraft: Wii U Edition received a major udpate, which added the Mario Mash-Up Pack: a massive packed filled with tons of Super Mario-related goodies, ranging from characters to special blocks, and more. There’s even some really neat secrets to be found, which are a real treat for long time fans of the series.

And today, a brand new Software update for Minecraft: Wii U Edition was released. Unfortunately, we don’t quite know what it does (just yet), but since it comes barely two weeks after the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, it would be pretty surprising for it to include new content… Not to mention that another update is coming soon, and will add the Battle mini-game (click here for more details).

It’s pretty much guaranteed this update only fixes various glitches introduced with the release of the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack a couple of weeks ago. We will post the changelog for this update as soon as it’s available (if we ever get any…).

To download this update, you will need at least 143MB of free space on your Wii U or external HDD. To do so, you have two options:

  • let the Wii U do its thing if you have automatic downloads activated. You should have the latest version of Minecraft: Wii U Edition the next time you turn on your console;
  • if not, you can launch Minecraft: Wii U Edition from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start Menu) in order to trigger the download manually (it might require several attempts, depending on how busy the servers are).

Thanks Joe for the heads up!
