LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens – More details on the extra canon content

LEGO Star WarsYesterday, GameInformer published a second article about LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and gave more details about the extra canon content. As mentioned previously, this content “bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, and is part of the Star Wars canon.

Here’s what Mike Taylor (head of design at TT Games) said about this content:

“The thing with The Force Awakens is that we’ve had the privilege of being able to create some additional content, some additional levels that take place before the events of The Force Awakens and allow us to explore some of the backstory of the characters, which is an absolute dream for any fan of Star Wars. There’s lots of exclusive stuff there, and we’ve drawn from the content in some of the other additional materials that Lucasfilm have been involved in.”

Not all of this content will be exclusive: some will be adapted from comics and books. That way, even young kids who don’t necessarily have access to those will be able to enjoy the extra canon content. It will be available in the game as special missions, which can be unlocked by collecting a certain amount of golden bricks. There’s apparently 6 missions, and they pop up after completing a certain number of story missions (every two or so). They’re not full-fledged missions, though.

Some example of extra canon content:

  • a mission explaining how C-3PO got his red-arm replacement
  • a mission showing how the Rathar creatures were captured

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Wii U / 3DS) comes out on June 28th in Europe and North America.
