99Vidas (retro-inspired beat ’em up) headed to the Nintendo Switch later this year

Looking for some beat ’em up action on Nintendo Switch? If yes, then QUByte Interactive may very well have the right game for you. Introducing 99Vidas, a retro-inspired beat ’em up headed to the Nintendo Switch. We don’t have a release date just yet, but it should be sometime before the end of the year.

Inspired by classics such as Final Fight, Double Dragon, Battletoads, Golden Axe and Streets of Rage, 99Vidas features 16-bit retro graphics, aimed at bringing back the nostalgia of the 80’s and 90’s eras.

While inspired by classic Beat ’em ups, 99Vidas has something most of them don’t have… two attack buttons:

  • Punch: fast, but weak
  • Kick: slow, but strong

By alternating between the two, you can perform various combos, to make sure enemies really feel the pain. Said combos, just like “regular” character moves, can be upgrades using the experience points acquired during gameplay. Upgraded attacks and combos deals more damage, but can also get elemental effects, and more. They change the characters on a visual and gameplay standpoint!

Here’s the key features of the game:

  • Up to 4 players co-op
  • 11 Playable characters
  • Story Mode with 6 levels
  • 2 Bonus Levels
  • Versus Mode
  • Survival Mode
  • 6 Challenging Boss Fights
  • Multiple Upgradable skills
  • Multiple Weapons and Special Attacks

Finally, here’s a trailer and some screenshots for the game (only trailer is for the Nintendo Switch version):

99Vidas (Switch – eShop) will be released before the end of the year in Europe and North America. The Upcoming Games page has been updated!
