PokéNews (Sept. 21): Pokémon Playhouse / Pokémon Sun and Moon (anime, Marshadow)

Today’s Pokémon news: a new Pokémon app available on smart devices… the Pokémon Playhouse, but also…

  • Pokémon Sun and Moon – Marshadow
  • Pokémon Sun and Moon – Anime series
  • Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon
  • Pokkén Tournament DX
  • Pokémon Gold and Silver

Pokémon Playhouse

Today, a brand new Pokémon game was released on smart devices… Pokémon Playhouse! Available on Android and iOS, it invites young players to discover fun activities, meet cute Pokémon, and explore various areas (the Tower, the Lounge, the Playground, and more). Each one features activities designed specifically for younger Pokémon fans, such as:

  • grooming your Pokémon
  • identifying Pokémon in the snight sky
  • listening to a story
  • and more…

When they first begin playing, players get a Pokémon egg: that egg begins to hatch as new areas of the Pokémon Playhouse are explore, and activities are completed. What Pokémon will hatch from the egg? You will have to play to find out for yourself!

Pokémon Playhouse was designed for children ages 3 to 5, and require no reading or math skills at all. Everything is narrated and hosted by a friendly human character.

Unlike so many other apps nowadays, Pokémon Playhouse does not collect any personal information whatsoever. Unsurprisingly, it also doesn’t include any in-app purchases, despite being free to start.

Here’s a trailer and some screenshots for the Pokémon Playhouse:

And here’s some technical details:

  • OS: Android 3.0 (or more recent) / iOS 7.0 (or more recent)
  • File size: 174MB (Android) / 478MB (iOS)
  • Download link: Android / iOS

Pokémon Sun and Moon – Anime series

Here’s the latest promotional video for the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime series, which showcases some highlights from upcoming episodes:

And here’s the latest poster for the anime series:

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Today, in the latest issue of CoroCoro Ichiban, a Deluxe version of the Rotom Pokédex toy was revealed. The toy itself isn’t all that interesting, but it does have a rather interesting tidbit: it shows Dusk Mane Necrozma with Pokédex number #400 (as opposed to 300 for Necrozma in Pokémon Sun and Moon).

This indicates a reshuffle of the Pokédex number, which isn’t all that surprising since the Pokédex is most assuredly not going to be the same. After all, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 also had a different Pokédex, so one would expect Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to get a similar treatment.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (3DS) comes out on November 17th worldwide.

Here’s what this theme looks like:
