One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum and DBZ Extreme Butoden getting cross-play update

What’s the common points between One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum and Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden, on Nintendo 3DS? Well, they’re both 2D action games based on a popular shonen manga/anime, and both were developed by Arc System Works. But there’s more to that: the two games are getting a special update in Early November!

That update will add a rather surprising and unexpected feature… cross-play multiplayer! Basically, players in One Piece: Dai Kaizoku Colosseum will be able to play against players in Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden, and vice-versa. Crossplay will be available for both local and online multiplayer.

Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all we know about this cross-play update at the moment. We don’t quite know exactly all it works, if all characters and stages will be available, and if there will be any restrictions. After all, it’s the first time two completey separate games get such a feature.

Maybe Bandai-Namco will reveal more details at the Tokyo Game Show, later this week, but since the update will not be released before Early November, we will most likely have to wait a little bit longer.
