Nintendo Games Seminar: trailers and screens for the 2014 titles, available on the JP eShop

The Nintendo Games Seminar is a special program for university students in Japan, which allows them to make games under the guidance of Nintendo developers. This year, the focus was on making 2D games using the Unity engine.

Nintendo Games Seminar

Just like last year, Nintendo ended up releasing the four games made during the Nintendo Game Seminar 2014 on the Wii U eShop. The following games are now available for download in Japan, for free:

– Team A – Doki Doki Tegami Relay (lit. Never-wracking Letter Relay): a game where you have to keep passing a letter around the classroom, without the teacher finding out. The TV screen shows the classroom with the teacher, while the GamePad shows the letter.

– Team B – Michiko Jump!: a game in which you have to help a girl climb out the sky. You start from a see-saw, then you have to keep climbing by using the clouds (and various obstacles) in order to bounce and keep going higher and higher. It’s a bit like those jumpings games à la Doodle Jump, except you can’t really see where you’re going!

– Team X – Jikan Satansa: a game where you have to control a penguin robot, and reach the exit of various levels. You use the GamePad (and more precisely the gyroscope) in order to control the robot. But there’s a catch: you can’t control it once you’ve set it in motion.

– Team Y – Ark Rush: a game where you control a dinosaur, which was brought back to life from a fossile, thanks to the mysterious power of stars. But since it’s still a fossile, it has trouble walking, so you have to make sure it keeps its balance. You control each of its leg with the left and right sticks.

Unfortunately, it’s quite unlikely that any of these games will ever be released outside Japan.
