Today’s Indie news: latest dev diary for Snake Pass, but also…

Snake Pass

Here’s the latest dev diary for Snake Pass, this time looking at natural camouflage:

Snake Pass (Switch – eShop) comes out on March 29th in Europe and North America.

Yooka-Laylee

In the past few days, JonTron (a popular YouTuber) has been making quite a lot of noise due to “far-right views about immigration, ethnicity and nationalism”. The whole affair made him lose a fair number of subscribers on YouTube, but there’s more.

He was originally supposed to voice a minor character in Yooka-Laylee, but today, Playtonic Games sent a statement to GamesIndustry to announce he would be removed from the game via an upcoming content update (which means he will still be there in the launch version of the game).

Here’s the statement in full:

We recently became aware of comments made by voice artist JonTron after development on Yooka-Laylee had been completed. JonTron is a talented video presenter who we were initially, two years ago, happy to include as a voice contributor in our game. However, in light of his recent personal viewpoints we have made the decision to remove JonTron’s inclusion in the game via a forthcoming content update. We would like to make absolutely clear that we do not endorse or support JonTron’s personal viewpoints and that, as an external fan contributor, he does not represent Playtonic in any capacity. Playtonic is a studio that celebrates diversity in all forms and strives to make games that everyone can enjoy. As such, we deeply regret any implied association that could make players feel anything but 100% comfortable in our game worlds, or distract from the incredible goodwill and love shown by our fans and Kickstarter backers.

Bertil Hörberg

Bertil Hörberg is the developer of Gunman Clive and Gunman Clive 2, two popular indie games on Nintendo 3DS (with the former being one of the most famous sleeper hit on the platform, with the likes of SteamWorld Dig). He hasn’t released anything since, and unfortunately, it looks like work on the next project is at a standstill.

But yesterday, he shared two videos of said project (that were actually recorded in February, with little progress made since then), which seems to be a 3D platform/action game, using the same art-style as Gunman Clive.

Here’s the two videos:

Unfortunately, it’s not clear at all when the game will be released (and if it will be released at all).

Little Inferno

A few days ago, Tomorrow Corporation announced that Little Inferno would get multiplayer on the Nintendo Switch, but that it would come after launch, via a Software update. Well, said update is now available for download, so grab a Joy-Con and start playing right now!

Subara City

Here’s the trailer for Subara City, now available on Nintendo 3DS in Europe:

Inti Creates

Yesterday and today, Inti Creates held not one, but two AMA sessions on Reddit. If you missed both, you can check out all the answers by clicking here!
