Super Mario Maker: second update available (Ver. 1.10), Nintendo Minute, more

Super Mario MakerUpdate

Today, Nintendo released a second Software update for Super Mario Maker. Unfortunately, this Ver. 1.10 doesn’t bring any new features, only the usual “changes meant to improve the gameplay experience”. In other words: Nintendo fixed some bugs and made “minor” modifications to the game, but didn’t deem it necessary to say anything more about them.

Here’s the official “changelog” for this second Software update:

  • Introduces additional enhancements to improve the user’s experience and enjoyment

This update may not add anything significant to the game, it’s still rather big: you need 223MB of free space on your Wii U and/or external HDD to download it. And to do so, you have two options:

  • let the console do its thing, if you have automatic downloads activated on your Wii U;
  • launch Super Mario Maker from the Home Menu (not the Quick Start menu), in order to trigger the update download manually.

To check that you have the latest version of Super Mario Maker, simply launch the game: you should see “ver. 1.10” at the bottom right corner of the TV screen.

Videos

Yesterday, Nintendo uploaded another special episode of Nintendo Minute. In this one, called “Super Mario Maker SUP-tember Favorite Levels Part 3”, Kit and Krysta are looking at some more levels made by fans in Super Mario Maker.

We’re back with a look at even more of the fun levels we’ve found so far in Super Mario Maker. Honestly, we could do these videos forever because we are always finding interesting levels that we want to share with you. We both clearly have a favorite type of level that we like to play. What types of levels do you enjoy playing (or making!) the most? We’ll be back with another Super Mario Maker SUP-tember video this Friday – hope to see you again then and thanks for watching!

Finally, here’s the latest video from Polygon’s “Devs Make Mario” series, featuring Derek Yu (creator of Spelunky):
