Nintendo Minute

Here’s the latest Nintendo Minute episode, which is about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!

Hi, this week we’re going back to the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This game is filled with so many memorable characters so we thought it would be fun to rank them in a character bracket. We picked eight characters from the game, purposefully excluding Link and Zelda because we already know they’re the best. For each character, we gave them a score from 1 to 5 on their personality, visual design, and sidekick factor. Everything was randomly seeded so it was really fun seeing which characters ended up against each other. Let us know in the comments how you’d rank them. We’ll also leave all the details here so you can make your own bracket and try it with your friend. As always, thanks so much for watching and we’ll see you next week!

The Characters:

  • Revali
  • Mipha
  • Riju
  • Urbosa
  • Bolson
  • Kass
  • Sidon
  • Daruk

The Rounds:

  • Personality
  • Visual Design
  • Sidekick Factor

Mario Day

To celebrate Mario Day, Nintendo collaborated with Google in order to launch Mario Maps: a brand new Maps app for your smart devices… ok, ok, it’s just a neat feature for Google Maps, available only until March 17th!

To use Mario Maps, you need to do the following:

  • update the Google Maps app to the latest version;
  • click the ? block icon at the bottom of the screen to activate Mario Maps
  • tap “Let’s-a-go!”, and you’re good to go!

Super Mario Odyssey

Here’s a video clip that shows all that went into the creation of the cutscene showing The Odyssey taking off for the first time, in the Cascade Kingdom!

Nintendo 2018 Handbook

Every year, Nintendo issues a handbook to all its employees. Those always contain many illustrations and pictures (most of them cannot be found anywhere else!), alongside various facts and data about the company.

Pictures of the 2018 handbook have begun to surface:

1-Up Studio

Here’s various piece of concept-art for several projects 1-Up Studio worked on (Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes), from the company 2018 guide:

Thanks MetaLord for the heads up.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp may be a mobile, that doesn’t mean it cannot get a guidebook… that’s precisely what the staff of the Nintendo Dream magazine thought when they started working on it! Unfortunately, due to the nature of the game (GaaS, or Game as a Service, with frequent updates), it’s not complete, and “only” covers content up to late February. It costs 1 296 Yen, and will be released on March 30th in Japan.
