Monster Hunter Stories: two videos, more screenshots, Himouto! Umaru-chan collab.

Update: Capcom also announced a special collaboration for Monster Hunter Stories. Players will be able to get a special costume for Nabiru, based on the hoodie Umaru-chan wears in Himouto! Umaru-chan (manga / anime).

Today, Monster Hunter Stories isn’t showcased in Famitsu magazine (it definitely will next week, though!), but Capcom did update the official website for the game. This time around, we get two new videos and some screenshots. The first video and the screenshots showcase the ancient ceremony you can perform in the game.

Thanks to this ancient ceremony, you can transfer skills from one Otomon from another, allowing it to learn skills it normally couldn’t. It works that way: you place some “balls” on a grid (see the screenshots below), in some sort of super simplified version of bingo. Your goal is to manage to make lines with your balls. If you do, you will unlock a skill, to be transferred.

Here’s a video showing how it all works:

And here’s some screenshots showing some examples of skill transfers, from the official website:

Finally, we have the second video, which is the third part of Capcom’s official video series for the game. In this one, Ryozo Fujimoto (Producer of the Monster Hunter Stories) and Satoshi Inoue (Director) try out the multiplayer mode. Who’s going to win? Check out the video to find out!

Here it is:

Monster Hunter Stories (3DS) comes out on October 8th in Japan.
