My Nintendo launched in Japan, DS games (3DS Download) as rewards, and more
Update
We added the full list of Missions currently available in Japan to this post: you will find it below!
***Today, Nintendo launched Miitomo in Japan, and as announced previously, My Nintendo (the new loyalty program, replacing Club Nintendo) was also launched at the same time. Unsurprisingly, many parts are already in English: this isn’t really all that surprising since My Nintendo is supposed to launch before the end of the month in Europe and North America.
If you have a Japanese Nintendo Account, you can click here to check out My Nintendo.
My Nintendo allows you to get coins by playing Nintendo games and apps (such as Miitomo), but also by buying the digital version of games. You can then use those coins to buy various rewards such as:
- items to use in-game (such as clothing for your Mii in Miitomo)
- game tickets to use in-game (such as Miitomo)
- discount coupons to use on the Nintendo eShop, in order
- free games such as Twilight Princess Picross (which leaked earlier this month)
- and more…
One of the rewards is WarioWare Touched!, on Nintendo DS. It’s actually a downloadable title for the Nintendo 3DS, which works just like DSiWare. That means that this game (along with all those that are bound to follow) will be bound by the same restrictions. For example, you can only install it on the internal memory of your Nintendo 3DS (which immediately rule out the bigger Nintendo DS games).
It’s not the first time Nintendo released Nintendo DS games as Nintendo 3DS Downloads: they did so with Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (which never released at retail in Japan, even though it was fully localised).
My Nintendo also introduces Missions: completing those allow you to get even more coins, in order to buy rewards. Missions are pretty varied: you can link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account, log in to Miiverse once a week, change your Mii’s clothing once a day, and much more. With those missions, Nintendo’s goal is to make sure you keep playing its game and using their services as much as possible.
