The Legend of Legacy: localisation confirmed, first English screenshots

Back in May, during a podcast, John L. Hardin (PR Manager) said several times that Atlus USA was localising The Legend of Legacy for the North American market. But the thing is… Atlus hadn’t even made any announcement yet! Actually, it was a rather amusing mistake from John L. Hardin, who mixed up The Legend of Legacy with Stella Glow (already announced at the time).

But yet testerday, Atlus finally made an official announcement for the game, which is coming out this Fall in North America.

The Legend of Legacy is a JRPG developed by FuRyu, on which several renowned people have worked on:

– Tomomi Kobayashi (illustrator, SaGa series)
– Masashi Hamauzu (composer, SaGa, Final Fantasy XIII)
– Masato Kato (writer, Chrono Trigger)
– Masataka Matsuura (999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors)

In this game, seven adventurers (Liber, Meurs, Owen, Bianca, Garnet, Eloise, and Filmia) go explore a mysterious island called Avalon, which suddenly reappared, one day, after an even more mysterious disappearance a long time ago. They each have their own agenda (finding treasure, looking for the god on the island, recovering lost memories, etc.), but they decide to team up in order to reach their respective goal.

Of course, something was bound to happen, and everything changes when a singing stone makes the adventurers see phantasms of Avalon’s mysterious and forgotten history. One important thing to note about your party: you can only take three adventurers with you at any time, the rest will have to wait in the town.

As for battles, they’re turn-based, and you can even make your own formations with the three characters. You can chose their role (attacker, defender, supporter, etc.), according to your strategies, and make changes at any time (even during turns).

Here’s some of the other features of the game:

  • Seven Unique Perspectives – As mentionned before, each character has their own agenda, but also their own conclusion at the end of the game. You will need to complete the game several times to get them all!
  • Combat Gets Classless – The battle system is a bit special, as there is no fixed class. Instead, you have to manage formations, and give specific roles to your characters.
  • Balanced for the West – Atlus made several gameplay adjustements for the western version of the game, based on user feedback following the Japanese release. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a bit before we find out what was changed exactly.

Here’s the first English screenshots for The Legend of Legacy (which will be at E3, next week):
