Nintendo Treehouse is the name of product development team at Nintendo of America. If you’re not really sure what that entails, all you should know is that they do a lot of things:

  • they translate games
  • they work directly with game developers, providing feedback on content and features
  • they track trends and news across the industry, and provides in-depth evaluations of Nintendo consoles and games
  • they help with the promotion of Nintendo consoles and games (marketing)
  • they create screenshots, videos, and more; they also work on Nintendo Direct presentations and the famous Nintendo Treehouse Live (including those at E3)
  • and more…

In short, they’re a central part of Nintendo of America, and their work isn’t just limited to the North American market. They also collaborate with Nintendo of Europe, for example.

The reason we’re talking about the Nintendo Treehouse today is not because of today’s livestream for the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire, but because yesterday, their official (b)log was opened: you can click here to check it out.

Right now, there’s two (rather lengthy) posts: one from Bill Trinen himself (by far the most famous person at Nintendo of America, after Reggie), and one from Nate Bihldorff (less of a public figure than Bill Trinen, but pretty much as important).

Wondering what they will share on that blog? Bill Trinen explains it all:

What I can say is that it will be a place where we’ll post content periodically, rather than on a set schedule. The content will offer insight into games and franchises you love, presented from a unique Treehouse perspective. We may not cover every game or every IP, and we won’t pull the curtain all the way back, but our hope is that the Nintendo Treehouse Log will evolve into something fans will enjoy—a place where you can get details on games you’re looking forward to from a variety of different people who are excited to talk about them. Here’s hoping you’ll be looking forward to our posts, and coming back for more.

In other words, this blog will offer you a nice little window into the world of the Nintendo Treehouse, so that you can see that the people working on your favorite games are not just human beings (and not just faceless employees), they’re also pretty big video game fans!
