Nintendo eShop opening in several countries on December 10th (Europe)
Thanks to the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U users can download a wide varienty of content: downloadable game, retail titles, DLC, demos, etc.. Unfortunately, it’s not available everywhere in the world, and even some European countries still don’t have access to it. Of course, there’s a work-around: it’s possible to change the country of the console and access the Canadian or British Nintendo eShop, for example.
But next month, players in several other countries will not have to resort to that anymore (though it will be too late for those who already created an account on Nintendo 3DS, as Nintendo allows only one Nintendo Network ID per console). Nintendo recently sent a mail to game developers, informing them that the eShop will open in the remaining EU countries on December 10th (at 3PM CET, which is the usual update time for the Nintendo eShop in Europe).
The countries finally getting the Nintendo eShop are:
- Cyprus
- Estonia
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Malta
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- Bulgaria
- Croatia
- Hungary
- Romania
For those countries, the Nintendo eShop will only be available in English, and with prices in euros. Finally, developers will have to get a PEGI rating in order to sell their games there (which is now totally free, thanks to the IARC).
