[gamescom 2016] Nintendo’s line-up, Zelda BoTW playable for select visitors
Last week, Nintendo revealed its plans for the gamescom 2016, which is taking place from August 17 to August 21st. And it looks like the company has quite a lot of things planned for the event, starting with the Nintendo Hausparty on Nintendo’s stage. There will be special guests, signing sessiond, live demonstrations, contests and more.
Here’s some of the guests that will show up:
- Pokémon: Shigeki Morimoto (Battle Director, Game Freak)
- Splatoon Hisashi Nogami (Producer, Nintendo)
- Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (Square-Enix)
Nintendo will have several games playable at GamesCom, but one of them will only be available for select players… The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Just like at the Japan Expo, in France, only the winners of a special contest will be able to play this highly-awaited title. There will also be tournaments for various games (see below), and the winners will also get to play it.
Talking of tournaments, there will be one for the following games:
- Pokkén Tournament
- Splatoon
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Mario Kart 8
And remember when Nintendo explained that Nintendo Accounts would be useable at real-life locations, such as theme parks? Well, the very first real-life implementation of that will be at gamescom! Visitors will be able to get some My Nintendo coins by completing a specific set of missions on Nintendo’s booth:
- Play Mario Party: Star Rush
- Play Monster Hunter Generations
- Play 2 Indie games of your choice (see the full list below)
If you complete all missions (you get stamps when doing so), you will get 300 Platinum Coins if you’re already a My Nintendo user, and only 250 Platinum Coins if you’re not.
