Update: just like Pokémon Sun and Moon, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is getting a similar toy, called Z-Power Ring. Click here for more details!
On Tuesday, we got some details regarding the Z-Ring and Z-Crystals that Takara TOMY is planning to release alongside Pokémon Sun and Moon, later this year. In Japan, a Special Set will be released, and will include the following:
- Z-Crystal (Fire, Water, Grass, Electrik, Fighting, Normal)
- collection box
- (Price: 4 490 Yen (~39€, £33, $43))
A similar set will be available in the United States (and most likely the whole of North America, and Europe), and will include the following:
- 3 Z-Crystals
- 2 inch Pikachu Figure
The set costs $29.99, and can now be pre-ordered over at Amazon.com [NB: affiliate link]. A pack of 3 Z-Crystals will also be available for purchase (price: $6.99), but it looks like the Crystals you end up with will be random (unlike the Japanese packs).

The product page does provide some additional details about the Z-Ring toy. First, there are two modes: synchronised (when you’re using the Z-Ring while playing Pokémon Sun and Moon), and Role Play (when you want to play on your own, without Pokémon Sun and Moon).
Details regarding the release of the Z-Ring and Z-Crystals in Europe are still TBC, but no doubt we should be hearing something in the upcoming weeks.
Pokémon Sun and Moon (3DS) comes out on November 18th in Japan and North America, and November 23rd in Europe.
