Today, on the first day of BitSummit Vol. 6, Inti Creates announced not one, but two new games for Nintendo platforms (namely, the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS): Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS), and Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX (on Nintendo Switch).
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon isn’t a game that came out of nowhere: it’s actually the very 8-bit game that was promised during the Kickstarter campaign for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (back in 2015). With this game, Inti Creates promise an experience that feels both nostalgic and fresh.
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is packed with the retro charm of the legendary 2D action games from the 80s, and lets you play as one of four characters:
- The sword-swinging exorcist Zangetsu
- The whip-wielding heroine Miriam
- The magic using alchemist Alfred
- Gebel, who can turn into a bat and take to the skies
The best part? Those 4 characters can be interchanged at any time during gameplay… though you first need to meet each one and add them to your “party”! Also, there’s multiple endings for you to enjoy, based on how you interacted with the various characters you met throughout your adventure.
Here’s the debut trailer (and a video message from Koji Igarashi) and some pictures for Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon:
For more details about the game (gameplay systems, characters, etc.), make sure to check out the official website!
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon will be released on May 24th in Europe and North America, and will cost 9.99€ / $9.99 / 980 Yen (you get it for free if you’re a backer, and pledged at the required tier). In Japan, the game is already available for pre-purchase: it requires on 32MB of free space, and does offer an English language option.
Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon (Switch, 3DS – eShop) comes out on May 24th worldwide. The Upcoming Games page has been updated!
Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX
Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX is the latest game in the Gunvolt series, following Azure Striker Gunvolt on Nintendo 3DS (released in 2014), and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 also on Nintendo 3DS (released in 2016). Since both games were ported to the Nintendo Switch (via the Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack), it was no wonder that console would be chosen for the next entry in the series!
The new game is called Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX (Shiroki Koutetsu no X THE OUT OF GUNVOLT in Japanese), and it stars the one and only Copen (the series’ anti-hero). Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all we know about the game, but Inti Creates promises that more details about it will be shared soon (maybe at E3, next month?).
In the mean time, here’s the debut trailer and a couple of screenshots for the game:
Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX (Switch – eShop) does not have a release date yet, but it’s already been added to the Upcoming Games page!
