Indie news (May 17): Napnok Games / Raw Fury @ BitSummit 5th / GoNNER dated (EU) / Drancia Saga

Today’s Indie news: KnapNok Games becomes Napnok Games, but also…

  • Raw Fury @ BitSummit
  • GoNNER
  • Drancia Saga
  • Elliot Quest
  • NBA Playgrounds
  • Shovel Knight

Napnok

KnapNok Games, the studio behind Affordable Space Adventures on Wii U, is no more. No, they didn’t go bankrupt or anything: they simply changed their name to… Napnok Games! This seemingly small change reflect some organisational shifts they had been working on.

To be more precise, they merged with Hexblade and Lateral Blades. They now have over 60 employees across four offices (Copenhagen, Paris, Minneapolis and Skopje). Here’s what Napnok Games is made of:

  • KnapNok Games, known for their social multiplayer approach;
  • Hexblade, known for their “magical computer vision technologies”
  • Lateral, known for their “360IP and company building skills”.

Napnok Games apparently has plenty of exciting projects in the works, but it’s too early for them to reveal anything it seems. Here’s what they had to say about what their “mission” is supposed to be:

Our mission is to create groundbreaking local/ social multiplayer experiences driven by novel interfaces and new technologies on any platform from traditional console games to connected toys.

Raw Fury Games @ BitSummit

A 5th of BitSummit takes place this week-end in Kyoto (Japan), and quite a few indie developers / studios from Europe and North America will attend. Raw Fury Games is one of them, and they will have the following games playable there:

  • Kingdom: Two Crowns
  • Dandara
  • GoNNER (on Nintendo’s booth)

All three games will be released later this year worldwide, with GoNNER releasing on June 1st.

GoNNER

According to a listing on the European Nintendo eShop, GoNNER will be released on June 1st in Europe (though it’s almost guaranteed North America and Japan will get the game on the same day). It will cost 9.99€, and will be playable in the following languages: Japanese, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, and Chinese. You will be able to use the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

The Upcoming Releases page and the list of games with English option on the Japanese Nintendo eShop have been updated!

Drancia Saga

Yesterday, Circle Ent. announced that Drancia Saga (on Nintendo 3DS) would be released tomorrow (May 18th) in North America, and on May 25th in Europe.

Here’s some screenshots and a trailer for the game:

Elliot Quest

Elliot Quest was released on Nintendo 3DS last week, in Europe and North America. Unfortunately, there’s an issue with the game, with performance severely degrading after about 1h of gameplay. The good news is, the developers are not only aware of the issue, they also found the cause and… well, actually, they’ve already sent the patches to Nintendo for lotcheck. The update should be available in the upcoming days!
