Indie news (Aug. 23, Round 2): Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 / SteamWorld Quest update

Today’s Indie news: plenty of screenshots for Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, but also…

  • SteamWorld Quest
  • Jotun
  • Quest of Dungeons
  • FAST Racing Neo
  • The Legend of Kusakari

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2

Today, Dengeki Online shared some screenshots for Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (which comes out in less than 2 days in Japan):

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 (3DS eShop) comes out on August 25th in Japan, and September 30th in Europe and North America. The Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack will be released at retail on the same day in Japan and North America.

SteamWorld Quest

We recently found out that Image & Form was working on a game called “SteamWorld Quest” (most likely a RPG taking place in the SteamWorld universe). Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we’re going to get details any time soon. Julius Goldbog (community manager) explained that development was still in its very early stages, so it wouldn’t make any sense for them to talk about it yet:

Look at that! We’ll share more about our next game when the time is right. It’s so deep in its initial stage that there’s no point in talking about it

Jotun: Valhalla Edition

Last week, Thunder Lotus Game announced that Jotun: Valhalla Edition (Wii U) would be released on September 8th in Europe and North America.

In North America, the game will cost $14.99. But what about Europe, you ask? We reached out to Thunder Lotus Game, who revealed that the price would be 14.99€ / £10.99 in that region.

Quest of Dungeons

Bad news for players looking forward to Quest of Dungeons (Wii U, Nintendo 3DS): the game will not be released on September 1st as previously hinted at/announced. The problem comes from the Nintendo 3DS version, which hasn’t passed lotcheck in North America yet. And since the developer want to release all versions simultaneously, a delay was inevitable.

There’s no new release date for now, but there’s no doubt one will be announced within the next couple of days/weeks.

Our Upcoming Releases page has been updated as a result.

FAST Racing Neo

At gamescom 2016, last week, Nintendaan had the opportunity to chat with Martin Sauters, one of the developers of FAST Racing Neo (from Shin’en Multimedia). In the interview linked below, you will learn more about the reception of the game following its launch, what’s in the Neo Future Pack DLC coming out in September, how the game was picked up by Nintendo for a retailer release, and more.

Here’s an excerpt:

I’m not from the business side directly, but as far as I know, Nintendo approached us and we have a great relationship with them. We always talk, and this was something that came from Nintendo, they asked us if this is something we could believe in. We said that’s perfect – we’re old school gamers and we know the digital market is a new market, but we come from the old school and we think having a game on your shelf is something special. When I went to the conventions last year, in talking to people I really often heard “Is there a physical release?” so I think there’s demand. Nintendo knows that, and I hope this will be a success, because it maybe motivation for Nintendo to keep going on that track.

The Legend of Kusakari

The Legend of Kusakari comes out this week in Europe and North America. To celebrate, Nnoo published their own interview of the developers (from Librage). It covers various topics, including Nintendo’s reactions when they showed them the game, what the title means and who’s the protagonist, how they became a Nintendo developer, and more.

Here’s an excerpt:

Our aim was originally to become a Nintendo publisher/developer from the establishment of Librage. Fortunately, we knew a person who is related to Nintendo right after our start-up. We have worked for more than 10 years (including our experience before Librage) in the games industry in Japan, so we were fairly certain that Nintendo could trust us. So, we were able to be a Nintendo publisher/developer.
