Hey! Pikmin: demo now available in North America, new trailer, EU Website open

In exactly two weeks, the latest entry in the Pikmin series will be released on Nintendo 3DS: Hey! Pikmin. For the first ever portable Pikmin game, Nintendo tasked Arzest with developing a radically different game: a 2D action/puzzle game, where you control the trusty Pikmin using the touch screen.

It may be radically different from previous Pikmin games, there’s one thing that hasn’t changed: the protagonist once again crashes on an unknown planet at the beginning of the game. This time, it’s Captain Olimar, who should really look into spaceship driving lessons when he’s finally back on his home planet!

This week, Nintendo finally opened the European website, which can be found there. Unfortunately, it doesn’t feature many details, especially compared to the Japanese website. However, there is some gameplay footage, that we grabbed and merged into a single video for your viewing convenience:

Also, Nintendo uploaded a brand new trailer for the game yesterday. Here it is:

By the way, if you want to try out the game, a demo is now available on the Nintendo eShop. Yes, that includes North America: the demo was released yesterday in that region, finally letting North American players get a taste of the game.

Finally, here’s various screencaps from the official website:

Hey! Pikmin (3DS) comes out on July 28th in Europe and North America.
