Fire Emblem if: the Special Edition getting a second shipment

During the April 1st/2nd Nintendo Direct, Nintendo gave lots of information about the next Fire Emblem title, Fire Emblem if. In Japan, there will be two versions:

– Hoshido, for a more traditional experience;
– Nohr, with a more complex story and increased difficulty.

If you buy a version, you can get the other as DLC for a reduced price. The digital version works the same way, except there’s only one version of the game.

But there’s also a Special Edition, which has both games on the same cartridges and an artbook

– the game
– the three scenarios (Hoshido, Nohr, and the DLC)
– an artbook
– a trading card from the Fire Emblem 0 TCG

Looks like this Special Edition was much more popular than Nintendo anticipated, as it sold out the very day pre-orders were opened. Nintendo even had to apologise on Twitter, and explained that a new shipment would be made for fans who didn’t get the chance to place an order the first time around.

This new shipment is now available since this morning, and Nintendo urges fans interested in the Special Edition to check with their favorite retailer as soon as possible… In fact, it might even be too late, as some retailers (like Amazon.co.jp), have already run out of copies.

And unfortunately, Nintendo confirmed that there wouldn’t be any more shipments in the future. This is actually a really odd decision, considering the game won’t be out until late-June: Nintendo should have plenty of time to manufacture more copies…
